Do I Qualify
- You are an Ameren Missouri residential electric customer.
- You take part in tier 4 of the PAYS program.
- You lived in the home for the past 12 months.
- Your current AC is 10 or more years old, is rated 14 SEER or less, or no longer works.
- You rent and the owner did not sign a consent form.
- Your mobile home is not on a permanent foundation, or it is more than 35 years old.
How Much Comes Off

Who Files It
The program partner that installs the upgrade files the rebate. The rebate reduces the upgrade cost. You repay the rest as a fixed PAYS charge on your electric bill, with 3% interest and a small close-out fee. The charge must stay at or below 80% of your estimated monthly savings. It is not a loan and needs no credit check. If you move, the charge stays with the home.
The Steps to Apply
- Check the program page for the enrollment status. For 2026 it is closed. PAYS program page.
- Schedule the free home energy assessment for the next enrollment. You get free energy-saving products with it. Schedule the assessment.
- Review the energy plan from the assessment and choose the upgrades you want.
- A program partner you choose installs the upgrades.
- The rebate is applied to the cost. The PAYS charge appears on your electric bill.
